Pregnant after a Loss

Signs of labor

Is anyone concerned they will "miss" signs of labor?  I know this may seem like a dumb question because most people who have given birth will tell you "oh you will know when you are in labor."  But for some reason I am worried I will ignore signs that it is coming until it's too late... and then we'll be rushing out butts to the hospital.

I guess I am like this in general... kind of a hypochondriac about things... even with my car :)  My mom told me she thinks it's a normal first time mom fear... the fear of the unknown.

Re: Signs of labor

  • my best friend was having this fear earlier this week and then she went into labor on sunday night and she said "she knew!"  but i sorta think the same thing sometimes.  another friend of mine was home on the couch with back pains, what she thought was just from being uncomfortable on her side for so long, and when she went to l&d finallys she was 6cm!  even in that case though she made it in plenty of time to even get her epi.  so i think when it comes down to it you will know...even if a little later than some ppl.

  • I am kinda worried about this as well, but I think I will know.  Well, I think I will know with plenty of time to get to the hospital etc, it is actually better if you don't get there super early they say.

  • I'm kind of nervous about this too.  I'm also nervous I'm going to have false alarms because I'll think I'm in labor when I'm not.
  • I'm with MrsG, I'm also worried about false alarms - as well as not knowing I'm in labor. I think it's a normal fear for us first timers. But most people figure it out, so I'm hoping I will too!
