How far in advance do you take a hospital tour?

With my 1st I think had a tour as part of our lamaze class.  I'll be having a c-section this time so we won't take any birthing classes.

My initial thought would be after the first of the year so we can get through the holidays.

I was about the beginning of the 2nd tri when i took mine. everyone else there was only about a month or so from giving birth so I looked a little odd being there. There were all really showing...big baby bumps.. and you could barely see mine.

So then I should be ok waiting until after the 1st of the year.  I'll have about 8 weeks left then.

yeah... the later the better.  Then things are fresher in your mind... security, guests, etc.

I think I was about 36 weeks, maybe even more than that!

we're not taking any classes, just the tour - and that's in a couple weeks so I'll be like 30-31 weeks or something.

I was around 35 weeks.

We did ours last week at 28 weeks. But I'm sure you could go earlier or later, there was no set time when we were supposed to go.

We took our tours of two different hospitals at about 12 weeks, mainly to decide which one we wanted to deliver at it. So I guess it depends on your purpose for being there.

I would wait until later so my memory is fresh.

It is also possible that they may change their visiting policies due to HINI. I would also call because some hospitals are being strict about tours and H1N1.

What is the purpose of taking a tour?  I've never taken a tour of the hospital for my other hospital admissions (leg surgery, etc).
