Pregnant after a Loss

3rd tri ladies

Have you prepared at all for after LO arrives education wise?  If so, what books or anything have you read?

I feel like I have been nesting and all that, but now I am getting worried about that I don't know enough about schedule and care etc...everyone says you figure it out, I am sure I will but just curious your thoughts.

  • I took a basic childcare class which was nice.  I also am reading "The Happiest Baby on the Block" It is interesting.  I also have what to expect the first year.

  • I've been reading like crazy!  I read What to Expect The First Year, The Nursing Mother's Companion, Baby - the owner's manual (I got that one for DH, he's an engineer, and I checked it out first), Happiest Baby on the Block, and whatever reading materials I got from my breastfeeding and infant care classes.

That being said, I still feel unprepared Stick out tongue

  • This is kind-of specific, but I've been reading The Working Gal's Guide to Babyville, since my main concern is caring for LO after I go back to work.  I'm enjoying it so far, and it's a pretty easy read.

Also,kellymom.com has been absolutely awesome for helping me prepare to BF (don't know if you're doing that or not).  It has some really great links that take you to websites where they actually tell you step-by-step what to do and what you might be able to expect as far as scheduling feedings and such.

  • I've been reading pregnancy and parenting magazines for about 3 years now, but I also had this feeling the other day like "what do I do when he's here?" I'm taking a basic baby care class later this month, and I have the happiest baby on the block on DVD that we will watch. I think it's just something we'll have to figure out as we go along, no book or video or class will perfectly match our babies anyway - so as long as we have the basics of knowing when to feed them and change them and how to keep them warm and safe I think we'll be okay. I figure no one knows what they're getting into with their first one and everyone figures it out - so we have to trust that we will too! GL
  • I agree I don't think I will ever be 100% prepared, a lot will depend on LO etc.  I am going to try to BF and I think the thought of doing that and going back to work makes me worried as well....bascially I am a worry wart all the sudden! Thanks for the input on books!

  • I just watched the Happiest Baby on the Block DVD and I also have the book which I just stated. I have What to Expect the First Year but haven't read much of it yet. I still feel very unprepared!
