Day Care Centers for infants?

So - the other option we are looking into (in addition to a Nanny-share) is just regular day-care.  The difficulty we keep running into is that a lot of day-care centers don't want to take young infants (I'll be going back to work when our baby will be 3-months old).

Any ideas?  Does anyone know any specific places that take small babies?  Or is there a trick to finding such a day-care?

Re: Day Care Centers for infants?

  • OP, what area are you in?  I'm in Orange county and most places take them as young as 6 weeks.
  • Have you looked at inhome day care providers.  A lot of them take young babies.  Good luck!

  • I am the director of a child care center in Orange County and have worked in Westchester County as well.  Child care centers can accept babies as young as 6 weeks as per NYS Office of Children and Family Services.  Some centers however, choose not to accept them that young.  My best advice is to look on NYS website to find a reputable center.  There site is www.ocfs.com.  Hope that helps!  Good luck!
