Visiting LA: places to take toddler??

hello,

we'll be visiting the LA area next month.

was wondering if anyone can recommend some places we can take our toddler. we won't be going to disneyland or theme parks on this trip. we'll be going to sea world and sd zoo on the same trip.

just looking for places to entertain our little one when we are there for 2 days. i've heard of a free train museum of some sort but i don't know the name of it. he loves trains and playground and running around.

will the beaches be still be warm enough to visit in mid nov? not to swim but just to play on the beach.
