Parenting after a Loss

Do you wake a sleeping baby?

LO has been sleeping since 12:30, so for 3 hours.  She doesn't usually take such long naps (1 and half hours at most) but she did this yesterday too, except earlier in the day and woke up after about 2.5 hours.

So, let her sleep right?  This isn't going to mess up her night time sleep is it? She usually sleeps about 5 hours total during the day and 10 at night, but its usually more spread out than this.

She hasn't been nursing more lately so I'm doubting its the 3 mo growth spurt.

Let her sleep or wake her up?

  • Let her sleep. She probably needs it. Remember that sleep begets sleep.

  • My pedi told us at our 2-week appointment that we should never wake a sleeping baby (DD had already gained a crap-load of weight at this point).  I had not heard this before.
  • not if we're at home. When we're on the go sometimes I have to in order to get him out of his seat, etc. But at home, he sleeps as long as he will (normally not more than 45 min, but if I got 2+ hours I'd sooooo enjoy it!).
