Pregnant after a Loss

my birth story

Connor was born 1 week ago today at 38 weeks. On Sunday morning at 11:30 my water broke. We went to the hospital at 2 and were told it was a false alarm (I knew otherwise). We went back to the hospital at 10pm when I was still having water stream out of me and was no way going to try to sleep in a wet bed all night. The resident dr checked me and said, oh yea you've ruptured and are 3cm! All this and not one painful contraction!

They let me rest all night and checked me at 7am. 4 cm and still no contractios. So they started me on pitocin; I wasn't happy about this because I wanted to go without an epidural and I knew on pitocin that would be hard.

At 2pm they checked me and I was only at 5cm. At this point I felt defeted and was wondering if this was ever coming out. I opted for the epidural. I actually hated it. Not being able to feel or move my legs and the epidural shakes are HORRIBLE! By 5pm I was at a 9 and the dr was called. At 7 I started to push. Connor was Sunny side up and not moving down so at 8:30 the dr told me it was either a C-Section (which he didn't want to do) or forcepts. He said if he used forcepts he would be in my arms in 5 minutes. 3 minutes later at 8:27pm Connor was born at 6lbs 2 oz. I can't believe I was in labor 33 hours. So it was about as far off of my birth plan as you can get but he is happy and health and my recover was a breeze.
