Pregnant after a Loss

I'm near tears right now about my baby's movement

Please tell me what your movements is like.  I feel like i'm feeling him less and less.  I have barely felt him at all this week only when i lay down to go to bed.  I  did check his HB with my doppler and it was 135-140 but, i'm starting to get scared.  Please tell me what your fetal movement was like at 29 weeks.  I do feel these hard spot that are there one mintue and gone the next so i'm guessing that's him moving but, i'm not feeling it.  Also, if I put my hand down real low near my underware line and push a little i feel a fast pulsing sensation but, not sure if it's mine or the baby. I know my placenta is Right Lateral as of my last US a few weeks ago so i should be feeling him.  I'm so stressed right now and on the verge of tears.  I guess it doesn't help that this weekend was my EDD for the baby we lost.

Re: I'm near tears right now about my baby's movement

  • I know movement is frustrating.

I have an anterior placenta and even now at 34.5 weeks there are still many days that I don't feel much movement.

Like you, I feel "hard" spots that I know is the baby, but I rarely get strong kicks.

At 29 weeks, I still wasn't feeling consistent movements.

If you are that concerned, drink some ice cold water and lay down in bed. Do kick counts......I *think* they want around 10 in an hour??? (someone please correct me if I am wrong!)

  • I'm not as far along as you, but try something sweet like oj or ice cold water, that seems to help me.  Also, my baby kicks more when I lay flat on my back for a little bit.

Take a couple of deep breaths, I'm sure everything is fine.  Give your doctor a call if you are still concerned in the morning.  Thinking of you!  ((HUGS))

  • I'm sorry. I went through something similar a few weeks ago. I was hardly feeling her and after a week I called my doctor and she sent me to labor and delivery to get monitored. It turns out the baby had turned and was facing back and the placenta was partially in the way.  She was moving around a ton, I just couldn't feel her.  The nurse said there is so much padding and fluid when they're faced that way that it can be hard to feel them.

If you're really worried, call your doctor. They can easily make sure everything is OK, not reason you should be upset about it.

  • When I was 29 weeks I felt almost no movement at all!  It could be a growth spurt. Plus, how active have you been? The more I've been moving around, the less I feel kicks and other movements. And, if you're still worried in the morning, call your doctor for reassurance!
  • I'm sorry hon -that can be really scary. Do a kick count and if your baby doesn't get ten movements in an hour, drink something sweet and start counting again. If you still don't get 10, call the on-call doc. I had to do the same thing around 35 weeks and my doc had me go into L&D for monitoring. Everything was fine. Everything is most likely fine with your baby, but if you don't get your ten movements, call. That's what they are there for! Good luck!

  • I know how scary this is. My doctor and the hospital both only want 3 definite movements per hour. Do as the other ladies say and then just call your doc. I am sure your LO is fine but I know it's scary!

  • I'm so sorry it's stressful right now. I so agree that movement can be frustrating (and scary!). I have to agree with everyone about trying some cold water/something sweet to drink and lying on your side, and calling your dr. if you're still stressed- it's so true, that's what they're there for, and they don't want to see you upset either. GL and hopefully your LO will get moving  asap :)

  • Take a deep breath When I was about 29 weeks, I had a scare too.  I couldn't feel him move very much.  I ended up calling the doc and they got me in and everything was fine.

They told me to do a kick count by laying on my left side.  I was to drink a really cold glass of water and lay still for an hour.  I had to count the kicks or slight movements.  If you feel 5 in an hour, you are okay.  And yes, I felt him move more at night and in the early morning when I was still in bed.

  • This happened to me around that time.  When I spoke with the dr., she said this will happen as the baby grows, he will have less room to move and you may feel less movement.  call your dr. anyways if it will ease your mind....

  • I'm sorry Irish, it is scary.  I don't feel him as much during the day, but when I lay down I feel him.  If you are that scared go in and have the OB check you, that's what they are there for!  To make you feel comfortable!!!   When in doubt, call!  HUGS.
  • I also do not feel strong kicks often but I do feel her roll around and I feel a hard spot where she hangs out on my left side.  I also have the low pulsing every now and then.  I do kick counts when I get nervous and when I actually drink something really cold and lay still on my left side I do feel the movement.  It doesn't have to be kicks it can be any movement (just not hiccups).  Good luck.  I am sure everything is fine...i wish i had a doppler on days i feel like this so since you have one and the hb is good I would not worry to much but if anything changes and you are scared, call your dr...that is what they are there for.
  • when I was PG my movement changed around 28-29 weeks. instead of define kicks and punches, they were more subtle rolls and wave like as she was getting bigger. Anyway I went into the dr's for an appointment and they listened to her heart, and they heard to accelerations with her hb in 15 minutes and were quite pleased. Always call your dr. if you are concerned, that is why we pay then them big bucks.

    <hugs>

  • Maybe LO's just getting squished in there? If you're really concerned about movement slowing, maybe go in and ask for an ultrasound to make sure that there isn't an umbilical cord issue? Not trying to scare you or anything, but other than lack space or just sleepy, that's the only issue I can think of that could actually turn out badly. It doesn't hurt to call and ask!

    Hope you feel better soon!
