Cancer questions

I've mentioned before that my FIL has cancer and he'll be starting radiation and chemo this week.Yesterday in a meeting at work DH noticed that FIL had two more tumors right below where an egg sized tumor (behind his ear) had just been partially removed. That tumor was partly attached to a nerve. These 2 new tumors literally just popped up last week. Now can radiation and chemo completely get rid of the new tumors or will they need to be removed as well?

As an aside he also just had surgery for colon cancer that apparently they were able to completely get rid of.

Re: Cancer questions

  • I have no idea but just wanted to say sorry.  That sounds rough :(
  • I think it depends on the size of the tumors.

My uneducated guess is that he might probably go through chemo to shrink the tumors down,  then have a biopsy to check for cancerous tissue, then probably have radiation on the area.  This is my guess because I have heard of someone having chemo and not needing surgery.

  • Thanks Lucy. I feel like a dumbass with these questions but the doctors are so vague about everything. Kind of a "lets wait and see" with everything. He has diabetes that he has to manage and give himself injections for daily, Parkinsons, some heart issues and now all of this. I just feel like it's spreading so quickly now and it seems like it's not looking good for him at all.
