pregnancy related: REALLY bad muscle pain (?) in lower abdomen?

I keep having some pretty bad pains in my lower abdomen that feel almost like a pulled muscle, but it's not constant. It comes and goes, and is worse after sitting, or laying on my side. It's definitely not cramps, but it hurts. To the point that it's hard to walk and I have to wait it out before I can move around.

Has anyone experienced this or have any idea what it could be? I have an appointment with my OB on Monday and will ask then. Just wanted to see if it was something that anyone else has had. TIA.

  • That is, almost by definition, Round Ligament Pain... I'm surprised you haven't experienced it before (though, I could be wrong if there is another element to the equation that I am missing). It is just the ligament muscles that hold up your ute are stretching. It is totally normal and annoying. There isn't much you can do for it except to watch how you get up and move, etc. Good luck!

It have had RLP, and this is MUCH worse. I guess it could be just a more intense RLP than I have felt before, but it just doesn't feel the same. It doesn't happen when I move...it happens while I am in rest. My RLP with my first two happened when I coughed or sneezed and only lasted a minute or two. This lasts about 5-10 minutes.

  • Could it be BH then?

I'm sure it could be a number of things : ) The whole "every pregnancy is different" thing is throwing me off this time. LOL. This one has just been so different than my first two. I do have BH sometimes, and they are usually not painful like this. And the two don't seem to coincide as far as when they happen. The pains are sporadic and come out of nowhere. I'll be fine one minute, and can barely stand upright the next.

It very well may be just bad RLP...but wow! I want my old RLPs back if so!

Could be...some of that info struck me because I have felt it but never associated it with one another (like just last night, for example, the pain moved from my lower abdomen, to my butt, to my legs in about a ten minute period).

    Hmmm...something to look into. Thanks!

  • Are you drinking plenty of water?
