Well ladies, my smooth pregnancy had it's first glitch. I went for my regular OB appt on Wed at 8am and my blood pressure was a touch high. My doctor said he'd re-test at the end of my appt. He did and it was still a touch high. He sent me to the labor and delivery triage to be monitored and for a NST.
I was in triage around 9am and they took urine, blood work, hooked me up for the NST, and put me on the blood pressure cuff. I could hear women all around me in the early stages of labor waiting to get admitted and admittedly freaked out. My blood pressure sky-rocketed. I was told that I was going to be admitted to labor and delivery for the next 24 hours to do a 24 urine collection and to watch me and the LO.
Around 1pm I was admitted into my private room and didn't get discharged until after 3pm yesterday. Everything looks good with me and the baby but they put me on strict bedrest through the weekend. I go back to triage for another NST Monday morning and then to speak to my doctor Monday afterwards to find out what happens next.
It's kind of scary that a day of a bad reading can cause you to miss 3 days of work, be on strict bedrest, and feel so unprepared. Needless to say, DH and I are going to order the rest of the necessities (like carseats) and get at least a small HP bag packed. It was very hard telling him over the phone where to look for my underwear and chapstick and other random things I needed for my short stay. I can't imagine if I was a long one...
This post really had no point except to say that even when you feel perfectly great and haven't had problems, small things can come up so be ready.
Re: My first hospital stay/PIH
Oh no!! I'm glad your doctor is watching you and baby very closely.
I really hope everything is back to normal next week!!
