a little bummed!!

Last night I called to check on the baby and see how she did with the bottle. She hasn't been doing that good, only taking 15 of 40 mL. Last night I was so happy to hear that she took 30 of 40, but I just got off the phone with the nurse and she said that Natalia only took 6mL for her this morning. Me and my fiance got our hopes up last night so now were both a little discouraged again. The only thing the nurses say to us is that shes still young and that it will just click one day. idk about that though. She will be 36 weeks on Monday so hopefully next week she'll get it.

  • I understand your disappointment, but the bottle thing is totally normal.  It really will just click.  DS took FOREVER to get the bottle and I really thought we were never going home, but once he figured it out he started sucking them down and we went from three bottles to seven bottles in just a matter of days.

  • DS did the exact same thing. he'd do a couple of good feedings in a row and we'd be so excited - we'd go out to dinner to celebrate. and the next day, nothing. i think the sushi restaurant appreciated his ups and downs!

hang in there - your LO will get it too! and it should be soon! DS clicked and we were home 2 days later.

  • I know this stinks, I remember it all too well.  However, it really will click before you know it.  I remember when I went in and saw him with his G tube back in after it had been removed.  That was rough...I totally lost it and just held him and cried.  It will get better, I promise.
  • oh yeah, and he didn't get it till he was 37 weeks and a few days, but then he was home within days of that.  The girls here kept tellingme it would click...and it did.  ((hugs))
