Was NT scan covered by your insurance?

I am scheduled to have the NT scan done on Oct. 27th and I wanted to know if your NTscan was covered by insurance or not.  If it wasn't, about how much did it cost?  I don't think my insurance is going to cover the cost of the scan.

Re: Was NT scan covered by your insurance?

  • mine would cover it at 70% if I have met my deductible, which I havent, so we are paying out of pocket.  Its $324 where I'm getting it done but Ive heard others say over $1000 (which I think is highway robbery.)

  • Ours was covered 100% by insurance.

  • Yep, mine was.  Just had to give copay.

I really don't know how much they cost, but hopefully your insurance will cover it afterall.  Do they cover any of your prenatal appointments?  What about the 20 week appt?  I'm no expert, but I would think they should cover the nuchal since it's part of your prenatal??

Sorry- I'm of absolutely no help.  Confused

  • yes, mine was covered - but I can tell you that it was priced at $300 approx by my Peri and then insurance repriced it down before paying out.

  • Mine was covered 100%, jsut had to pay a $25 co-pay.  depending on your ins. they will probably pay a percentage 9if not the whole thing) and you will have to pay the rest.  I would call the office that will be doing it ahead of time so they can look into your insurance for you.  Mine was priced very high based on the bnill that they sent into my insdurance company, but there is always a range.
  • mine was covered but it would have been 300 if not.
  • Mine was covered 100% w/no co-pay. BCBS.

  • Mine was covered at 80%. So far this is the only thing that wasn't covered at 100% even though my ob highly recommended that we have one because of my age and what we did to get pg.

But I'd rather it be covered at 80% than not at all.

  • I think it really just depend son your insurance. Ours was covered 100%, as were any other u/s.
