Those who m/c'd twins...

Before your first ultrasound did you wonder if it could be twins again? Were you disappointed at all if it was just one baby?

My first ultrasound is next week and I have mixed feelings about it. Dont get me wrong, all I want is a healthy baby, whether it be one or more.

I didnt think it was twins this time....and I wasnt disappointed because for the first u/s this time...I saw a heartbeat...I didnt last time.

I am the same. I didn't realistically think it was twins, but I always wondered. It wasn't at all what I had on my mind when I went for the u/s though. In fact, I didn't even think about it until much later that day. I was just so incredibly relieved to see a heart, beating away. I was ecstatic.

I wanted it to be twins. Desperately. But as soon as I saw that healthy hb on the screen, I didn't care that it belonged to one baby instead of two. I was just so happy it was there. I know that the twins were special because they were twins, and I am so sad that I'll probably never be able to experience carrying them or any twins, but I'm coming to accept it. The further along I get with Sprout, the more acceptance I'm finding in all aspects of the loss. Don't beat yourself up for whatever emotions you end up having, they are totally fine and natural. I did wonder if it could be twins again. (We had done IVF and transferred 3 embryos.) I was excited that we were expecting twins again...I think DH was more apprehensive, worried that we might m/c again.
