We have one, and I've decided we will not buy another. I like it, don't get me wrong. It's plush and looks comfy. And I actually like how it doesn't have a bunch of extra cushions, etc--very streamlined. But I guess now that I have one, I just don't see what the huge hype is.
I think it boils down to my frustration with it being able to be reclined enough in the RF position. And the fact that it suggests using a pool noodle or rolled up towel (which we did) to adjust the recline. Really? That's your solution, Mr. $200-300 car seat manufacturer?
We're going with the Evenflo Triumph (which comes more highly rated than the Britax in the recent Consumer Reports best buys), or something else for the second car once we're officially done with the infant seat.
I'm glad my parents bought us this one. I might be experiencing buyer's remorse if we'd bought it. I'll admit it. I fell for the brand name hype.
Phew. Just had to get that off my chest.
Re: Confession re: Britax
i saw you are looking at the Evenflo Triumph Advance...we have it and love it...we stacked a 15% carseat coupon and a 15% baby item coupon and got it for only 100 dollars. Def. check for coupons at Babies R Us to get it cheaper!!
Me too.
I love our Britax! We have 2 and I think after being in the car accident and seeing how dd's seat didn't move an inch and she was fine I'll be a Britax user forever. (I am sure she would have been just as safe in other seats I just saw the Britax in action)
We used to have 2 cow print seats but after our car accident we have 1 cow print and Deco squares which I also love,
I didn't see what was so special about the Britax either, so we got the Evenflo Triumph Advance and I love it! I am so glad we didn't spend the extra money now. I found ours on the clearance shelf at BRU because the box was damaged, and got a great deal on it.
Buyer's remorse sucks, I'm sorry you regret the purchase. But like you said, at least it wasn't your money.

Oh, I'm with the Britax fans in that it's a good seat. I feel like she's very safe in it, and aside from the recline issue, I like the design of it. Just not convinced it is so much better than a lot of the others out there.
What's the recline issue that you have?
We love ours, although in retrospect, I'm sure the Evenflow Triumph and others really are as good for less money. I don't regret buying ours though, and I absolutely LOVE the cowmooflage print we have!
My Sweet Girls
Im so glad to hear this from a Birtax user. We dont have one and I never really got the hype -- they are safe, I dont doubt that, but there are so many other choices at there just as safe and easier to use. ::cough cough:: First Years True Fit Conver. Car Seat
We've got it set on the most reclined setting, and Holly was sitting basically straight up. She'd completely slump over to the side when she fell asleep. So we had to use a rolled up towel to get it to recline to where she was comfortable.
We've got the Roundabout 50.
Sorry to hear that you don't love your Britax. My son seems to love his Boulevard and is still rearfacing at 16 months when he is nearly 35" tall. Most convertibles are not as reclined in the RF position as an infant seat as the babies tend to like to be a little more upright to see out, etc. at that age.
Also, my mom has an Evenflow Triumph Advance for DS that we all pretty much hate in her car. It could just be the shape of her seats, but the knobs to adjust the strap tightness are so in the way as they are on both sides of the bottom of the seat. And the red tabs at the top of the shoulders leave red marks on DS. We bought strap covers, but they either slide down or he pulls them down and the red tabs at shoulders irritate his neck driving his Nana crazy because she thinks her carseat is hurting him! I think the seat itself may actually even sit a little more upright than our Britax. His legs look more cramped than in our Boulevard for sure.
I know it's a safe seat, but just want you to know that it isn't perfect either! I'd definitely try it out in your car before you purchase it if you can. You might not like it as well as you think!
