Hey! We actually had it 2 weeks ago (I know, I suck at updating and posting lately). Now that I am back to work I just feel like there aren't enough hours in the day. The follow up went great and I loved Dr. E. He was so nice and I didn't feel rushed at all. Overall he was really pleased with Alex's progress. I asked lots of questions about her feeding (since I worry she doesn't eat enough and is often a 'messy eater') but he assured me that since she was gaining weight like a champ there was no need to go looking for a problem. He said she is probably just a little lazy. We are watching a few issues with Alex and unforunately I have the info sheet at home so I don't have the official names. She is favoring her right side so we are now doing stretching exercises to improve that. He said it is likely from her NICU time and really not a huge concern. She also has a bit of a flat spot on the right so we are working on that too. But again he sees no immediate concern and doesn't believe in helmets. We are just working to put her on the other side more often and changing the way we hold her. Thankfully she loves tummy time and is now even rolling over!
The other minor concern and probably his biggest (although he wasn't too concerned) was her eyes. We had noticed that when she turns to look at something her one eye (both but at different times) tends to lag a little. I think he called it spacial differentation. He said it should get better on its own and we told him we have already seen an improvement since we brought her home. We have a follow up eye appt with Dr. Roberts of Midwest Eye in November so I plan to address it with him as well.
All in all it was a good followup and provided some much needed reassurance. We go back in January.
Good luck today! I am sure Andrew will be a superstar and charm them to death!
