Joining the Reflux Haters Club

DD is scheduled for an Upper G.I. in the morning to determine the severity of her reflux.  We already know she's having issues because she desats for up to an hour after eating and it's always accompanied by her wincing and smacking her lips.

*sigh*  Hopefully if they can successfully treat her reflux it will help with her desats - we're SO close to discharge...I hope this doesn't set us back.

  • Join the club!

I hope you get good news and your LO is home soon!

  • I'm sorry. We're not accepting new members. You're going to have to tell her to knock it off. ;)

Truly, I'm sorry to have anyone join us. It's a crappy club.

  • My son was born at 26 weeks so I know reflux, unfortunately.  We recently got new carpet...  It takes awhile to get better, but hang in there.  I know its tough when you are waiting to take your baby home.  My baby was on zantac for a few months after he came home, which helped.  The thing that really helped in the hospital was when they changed his feeding schedule.  Instead of every 3 hours on their clock, they switched to his schedule.  As long as he didn't go over 4 hours.  He did so much better, eating when he was actually hungry...

Desats are agonizing, my prayers are with you.

  • My daughter had desats constantly.  She had the central sleep apnea and the reflux ones.  They wouldn't let her discharge until both were gone.  Actually, if the sleep apnea didn't leave by 40 weeks, she probably would've come home on a monitor but they wouldn't send her home without the eating desats clearing up for 7 days.  She had her GI consult and ENT and a swallow test.  They ended up giving her prevacid and using Simply Thick to thicken her formula, she's now desat free and came home today! (no monitor needed!)
