DS is Davis so I'm biased. We get a lot of compliments on it. I'm hoping his friends don't shorten it to Dave. It's a classic sounding name IMO but still unique.
Its really trendy now to have a boy's name ending with -an or -en so I'd say Davis- but I prefer David
It may be popular, but I wouldn't call it trendy. Steven, Allen, Brian, Sean, Jonathan, Ian, Nathan, Ryan, etc.. are some classic names with those endings.
I'm also biased since my son's name is Davis. I love the name and it is also a family name for us. Although he is only 19 months old, we call him Davis and I don't think it will be shortened to Dave. If the name were David - I do believe it could be shortened to Dave - it is a common occurance. Since Davis is more unique, but not very long, I don't think it will ever be shortened.
Evan is also a great name though! I don't think you could go wrong either way.
Just out of curiosity, where are you from (state)? I'm wondering if Davis is becoming more of a reginal name.

We're in AL.
Thanks to all for voting! We obviously have so much time to decide, but it's good to hear Davis is as cute sounding to everyone as Evan since this count is pretty much even. Apparently we can't go wrong with either way we go!

I like them both, but would go with Evan out of fear that people would call Davis by "Dave".
Dave makes me shudder.
Davis is different, but not weird, I like it. Evan is super popular right now... so I vote Davis
