Looking for locations for portraits

Hey ya'll.  A good friend of mine is doing maternity portraits for me.  These will be used in her portfolio as I am her first she's done maternity portraits for (she typically does weddings, but is wanting to expand her business).

Anyway, we're trying to think of or find great outdoor spaces.  Anyone know of some places that might yeild great portraits?   I was thinking something definitely outdoorsy, but also something with old buildings and such.  If anyone has suggestions I'm all ears...thanks!

Re: Looking for locations for portraits

  • Mckinney Cotton Mill (fee to shoot here)

(this time of year) Any pumpkin patch place will generally let you shoot there for free and they are usually by open fields too

Around White Rock Lake has some nice open areas

Old buildings are sorta harder because you can drive by place that are awesome but you cant (or dont want to) go onto the property (safety reasons, ya know)

Saginaw are  (off Main) is really cool if you like railroads and mills in the background =)

Historic Grapevine has some cool buildings and alleys and streets, you just need to go there at a good, non-busy time so you can access them.

    Hope this helps =)

  • Stockyards in Fort Worth (doesn't have to be country or anything) or Sundance Square in Fort Worth.

  • The botanical gardens is always a beautiful spot.  You can find some great spots along the Trinity River as well, great old buildings and walls can be found downtown, a great way to find some ideal locations is to just drive around, when you see something you like, get out and take a look around.
