Parenting after a Loss

experienced moms: baby colds?

LO had a rough night.  Basically up from 12:30 on unless being held.  Now he's congested, but the saline drops and suction are working. He doesn't have a fever.  Is that why he was up all night or just coincidence?

He's been sleeping in the wrap for about three hours now.  Should I wake him to feed him if he doesn't wake up on his own in the next hour or so?

TIA!

Re: experienced moms: baby colds?

  • Yes, I would probably wake him if he doesn't wake on his own soon. ?You don't want him to get days/nights mixed up. ?

?Sounds like your bad night was due to the cold. ?Try running the humidifier for the next few nights. ?You also might try sleeping him in his carseat or bouncy seat for a few nights so his head is elevated. ?

GL! ?DS got his first cold around the same age. ?The first few days are the worst, but it gets better after that.?

  • He's probably just uncomfortable and achy - just like if you have a cold.  I am sure he couldn't get settled well last night.

I think given his age, its important for him to eat on schedule - especially when he's sick.  I would wake him to feed him every 3 hours (or whatever his normal eating schedule is).  The nutrition will help him fight this off.

If he's really stuffy, I would give the pedi a call too.  Given his age, they might want to check him out.  I am sure he will get over this quickly though!

    GL!

  • Lydia had a cold. I was told that as long as she wasn't really lethargic or running a fever, that I didn't have to bring her in.

I hope he feels better soon!
