Anyone change pumps and how long do you pump for?

When I first started back at work I thought my supply was low b/c I wasnt' getting enough milk each day.  I saw a LC and she told me that I by no means have a low supply.  She gave me some times to help increase pump output:  cover bottles with cloth, look at pictures/video of DD, use the same place each time, drink the same drink each time...  these have all helped but I still don't get what I need.  She mentioned that it could be that I'm not responding well to my particular type of pump (Ameda) and that I might have better results with a different pump.

Should I really change pumps?  I don't want to waste money.

I'm getting more milk each time, but I still have to pump at times up to a half hour to get 4 or 5 ounces.  WDYT?

  • I found that I had a pretty good increase when I started eating oatmeal about 4 mornings a week and am drinking about 60oz of water a day. I also think relaxing, taking deep breaths, when I begin to pump really helps. I usually pump about 5oz on each side in about 15 minutes.
