So...I went and visited daycare today so they could meet DS (and I bawled even though I still have two weeks left!). I asked what they do with leftover milk and the answer I got was, "We put all empty bottles in your cubby, and leave the full ones in the fridge." I wanted to know more specifically if they'll save leftover milk and offer it at the next feeding. They can put it back in the fridge and rewarm it for the next feeding, right?

All daycares that I spoke with are required to dump whatever is left after a feeding. (This was also true 4 years ago when I had my first child.) The same goes for baby food when that time comes. If they don't finish a jar then whatever is left is trash.
To help reduce waste I have asked the lady who cares for the newborns at the daycare to only offer 3 oz when it is feeding time and if he is still hungry offer an ounce more at a time. I send all my breast milk in storage bags and send 6 empty bottles. They also have to have a fresh bottle for every feeding.
