For those who have LO that have had Thrush .. .

When you called your ped.  did they perscibe meds for both of you or just you LO.  Did you call your OB to get meds for you or your primary care dr.?

    Nah, I wasn't showing any symptoms.  I just washed well after nursing. If I had felt the need to, I would have calledmy primary care doc b/c DD was 9 months old, by then.

    Lactation consultant gave us gentian violet for LO and I to use. ?LO was prescribed Nystatin for diaper rash.

    The lactation consultant called the pedi, and he prescribed meds for both of us.

    Any Dr. can pretty much write a perscription.

    My GP perscribed me Nystatin. I went thru two bottles of the stuff. Besides it being a PITA to administer, it didnt work.

    Then i tried Gentian Violet and it worked right away. Its cheaper, a natural old remedy and you can get it at the pharmacy. Its a little messy, but you simply paint your nipples with it and your LOs mouth and its gone. DONE.

    Whichever route you choose, Gentian Violet or Nystatin, make sure to do yourself and your LO. GL!
