What to do with frozen BM??

I have about 100 oz. in frozen BM but we're moving in a few weeks from Montana to Vegas.  It will be a 16 hr+ drive to get down there.  Not sure what to do with my frozen BM.  There's no way I want to throw it all away.  Suggestions?

  • Ooh, tough one.  Maybe ship it using dry ice?  Or pack it in dry ice and carry it with you?  I don't know how long something will stay frozen in dry ice.

  • Can you store it with someone you know and then have them ship it when you arrive in vegas?
  • Dry ice? It's supposed to last 12 hrs so you could ship it. There are rules about it so you need to check with FedEx.
  • Donate it to your local Milk Bank?

  • Thanks for the suggestions ladies!!  I'll definitely look in to the dry ice and shipping it method.

  • Pack it in dry ice.  The key to keeping it frozen is to make sure there is no room in the cooler for air to circulate.  In other words, line the bottom and sides of the cooler w/ dry ice, put BM in, put dry ice on top of BM.  If there is still any room at the top of the cooler fill it with newspapers (they make great insulation believe it or not) and then cover with a thick towel.  We managed to keep ice cream frozen this way for like 12 hours 1 time (special flavor my mom likes, took some to her as a surprise, crazy I know).  Good luck w/ the move!
