1st Trimester

.:JaquelineThorne:.

Hey- I just saw your tickers in your post below and I see you are about to have 3 DC's. Congrats to you.

I have a question: Do you plan on going back to work after your third?

DH and I plan on having another in a few years but I have already gotten the side eye from people when they hear that I plan on remaining a working mom with three kids...we are a two income family so that is just how it is for us right now.

Curious if you have also gotten any slack or if you work part time or are planning on becoming a SAHM..

TIA

Re: .:JaquelineThorne:.

  • I was able to be home with #1 until he was almost 2, so when it came time to find a daycare for #2 before he was born I just couldn't do it. I work at a small law firm and am fully capable of doing my job at home, so I thought it out and approached my bosses to work it out. I've been doing it for about a year now. I go in to the office 10 hours a week, but work from home the rest of the time. It cut my income in half because I don't work full time anymore, but I would be spending the difference on daycare if I was going in to the office every day.

That being said, if my bosses hadn't been so understanding and generous, I would still be working full time in the office to make things work for our family. I think it is very commonplace for women to remain working moms these days, so if it's what works best for your family and you want more children , go for it and don't worry about what some others may think. Good luck!

  • Thanks! You do have a great arrangement. I'm more worried about being able to cope with the 40 hours and juggling three kids' schedules, but who knows?? Maybe by then an arrangement similar to yours will work out for me as well.

    Thanks again for sharing.
