I am trying to make myself feel better while I wait for the pedi nurse to call me back and make me feel better.
How much and how often is your LO eating? And how much does your LO weigh? (either at their 1 month appointment or when you do a guesstimate on a scale at home (weigh yourself and then weigh yourself holding your LO)).
Re: Moms of 7 week old's come in:
LO eats about every 2 1/2-3 hours (sometimes more), she weighs 8lbs 11oz
We just started giving her some formula, she takes 1-2 oz every 3 hours or so.
ds weight 8lbs 8 oz at is 1 mo appt. he was 6 lb 1 oz at birth.
He eats every 2-3 hours during the day and usually between 2-3.5 oz of formula. He usually goes for a 5-6 hour stretch over night.
7 weeks old today... I have no idea how much he gets during BFing but he feeds about every 2-3 hours during the day, only once at night (around 4:30pm) as he is now sleeping 7+ hours straight. Judging from his weight gain though I can say he eats A LOT.
His weight:
birth - 6lbs 13oz
1 month - 10lbs 2oz
I weighed myself with him yesterday and the difference was 12lbs
So that didn't help. LOL.
which isn't ya'lls fault.
S eats ever 2-2.5 hours. And she eats SIX oz. No she doesn't spit it all back up. Yes I try giving her a paci (and a soothie sometimes just to be sure) I try burping her and other things before feeding her. She drinks the whole six oz dry with in 45 minutes. (She does slow down and I try to get her to do something else, but then she cries again and wants to eat--that's why it takes 45 minutes, I keep hoping if i slow her down that she'll realize she's full sooner, she does not).
At Birth she weighed 8 pounds 2 oz.
At 1 month she weighed 11 pounds 4 oz.
I just weighed myself and then her and she was 14.5 pounds.
I worry about all of this.
If it helps, when we give RJ occasional bottles of BM he chomps down 4oz in less than 20 minutes. When he isn't at all fussy or interested in what's moving around it takes a lot less. He's usually never done with the bottle, I offer him the boob if I'm around and he feeds some more.
Comparing our LOs starting weight we are about the same in terms of gain. I have a big eater as well.
DS was 7 weeks yesterday and drinks 4-5 oz every 2-3 hours, usually closer to every 2 hours. Every once in awhile he will even take 6 oz. He hasn't been offically weighed since he was 3 wks when he was 9 lbs 5 oz, but we think he is around 12 lbs now.
I'm sure your LO is fine. Each child is different and eats different amounts.
My LO eats about 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 oz roughly every 3 hours; lately though she's been "snacking" every couple hours eating about 2 oz...ugh!
She weighed 8lbs 11oz at birth...and at her 2 week appt weighed 9lbs 9oz! So I'm assuming when she goes for her 2 month check-up she'll probably be close to 12 (if not more...)
She's not really sleeping thru the night though...she seems to wake up every 3 hours to eat - so I"ve been trying to push more oz at night closer to bedtime
My guy usually eats around 4 or 5 oz. every 3 or so hours, less overnight. We aren't on a schedule. He has been known to eat 6 ounces. I wouldn't worry too much.
Oh, and at his 1 month appt. he weighed 9 lbs. 2 ounces. He was 7 lbs. 12 ounces at birth. I have no clue what he is now. He had issues gaining weight at first. Actually, I think his Mommy was having issues BF when he was born. He is good now.
My little guy weighed 10 pounds even last Monday at his check-up. He weighed 8.7 at birth. He eats between 30 and 34 oz in a 24 hour period.
12:30am 7oz
5:45am 6oz
9:00am 4oz
12:30pm 4oz
4:15pm 6oz
8:30pm 7oz
