1st Trimester

Glucose Tolerance Test...

...was an EPIC FAIL this morning. I threw it up 4 minutes after drinking all 6 oz. of it and I wasn't even feeling sick this morning!  I have to try again on Tuesday...and I cannot tell you how I am already dreading it! On the upside however, DH and I did get to see LO and hear a heartbeat....160 sweet bpm. And after some minor spotting last week it put this momma's heart at ease. Amazing.

Re: Glucose Tolerance Test...

  • Ugh, that sucks.  I know a lot of people say the orange glucola is the worst and made them feel so sick.  I feel your pain.  I was glad that I had a fruit punch one and was able to survive.  Hope it all goes well on Tuesday!

  • My GTT is scheduled for 3 weeks from today.  I must say I am not looking forward to it.  Hopefully you will have better luck Tuesday.

  • Next time ask if you can come in the day before, and grab it from them. It tastes alot better, and stays down better if it is refrigerated. Why are they testing so early? With DD I never had it until 24 weeks! This time I will be getting it around 16 weeks.

  • Not sure why it is so early, I have diabetes in my family but I've never been high risk for it. I'm kinda glad they started early though because it will obviously take me a couple attempts to get that nasty orange stuff to stay down!

  • I took mine yesterday at 8w6d.  My doc wanted to do it early b/c i have PCOS and am at a higher risk for gestational diabetes.  Quite frankly the orange wasn't that bad and I was rather glad it was warm b/c m/s is so bad if it was cold I think I would have brought it back up.

This is why they are doing mine so early.  It will be more of a baseline for them to look at when they do again further into the pregnancy.
