I had a Design/Editorial meeting this afternoon to discuss photos and images we will be using in our new designs.?
The Photo Image Coordinators show both the Designers and the Editors the photos on the overhead, and we choose which ones would work best for the project.
As we are browsing the photos, I simply stated my opinion by saying "I think we should use the black and white photo. It is larger and much more appealing than the other two."
The head Editor looks at me and says "Umm..Excuse me. This is an Editorial meeting and an Editor decides. Opinions are not necessary."
My jaw dropped. The other Designer that was with me said "Uh, no. We are the ones that have to do the Photoshop for these images, and we definitely have rights too."
She replied "We are higher up than you guys, and you listen to us. What we say-- goes!"
She then proceeded to insult teachers by saying:
"Teachers won't know the difference if we flip an image or not. They probably barely know anything about these historical figures. What do they care?"
I wanted to ring her neck.
Re: NTR: I am thoroughly insulted.
what a biitch!
LOL at "we have rights, too" No, you don't.
It sucks that they said it so bluntly, but now you know. Keep your mouth shut next time. Let your co-worker hang herself, and then you can have her job...
This is why I am so p*ssed. We are to work as a team, and no, they ARE NOT "higher up" than us. It is titled a "Design/Editor Photo Review" for a reason. I've gone to many of these meetings, and was always entitled to speak an opinion. This was the first time I've worked with this particular Editor.
The funny thing is, the photos they chose will not work for the spread I'm doing. Once they see the results, they will be mad at themselves. We tried to tell them, but now it's all on them. Their name is on these image choices...not ours.?
