1st Trimester

How are you exercising if you haven't before BFP?

I've dropped off the working out scene since May when I had to go to the ER for my neck. I haven't been doing much of anything (partially the reason for my 10 lb weight gain),but I really have to start doing more for myself and the baby.

Anyone else just start a new, light workout routine that wasn't working out before? I really wanted to start walking, but now it's starting to get cold out! I don't have my own gym, so I would need something you can do at home. I'm not particularly into yoga, but I do have this dvd for ball exercises which is pretty light exercise (kind of combines pilates and yoga moves.) I just get bored with it. I'd really like to find somewhere where I can swim, but then again, a bathing suit doesn't seem like a great idea lol.

Advice/recommendations for what you ladies like? TIA!

  • No recs here... I havent worked out since my BFP :(
  • Loading the player...
  • I haven't worked out since my BFP either, no help here.

  • I'm a slacker when it comes to working out. I do it for a few week and then stop for a few weeks. I've decided that I'll hit the gym 3 days a week (more if I feel up to it). All Ive been doing in walking in the treadmill and keeping my heartrate below 140. I've also bee doing arm excercises as well.

  • I would try to find a workout dvd made just for pregnant women. There are certain exercises that aren't great for baby so I wouldn't use a regular workout. Browse on amazon.com and read the reviews.

Me personally, I'm going to do the prenatal yoga when this m/s goes away ;)

  • I've been walking and doing light weights. I also just bought some pregnancy workout dvd's (Lindsay Brin's Complete Pregnancy Fitness Program). I've heard good things on that series. I want to try different things to keep me from getting bored.
  • I try to walk outside for 30 minutes every other night. It is getting cold but I enjoy the cool, fresh air. I plan to do prenatal yoga (class is 1x/week) again starting around 15 weeks. I also have a 2 year old to chase around and care for on top of working full-time. So I don't always hit the every other night part.

  • I started taking zumba classes right before BFP and my doctor asked me to stop and instead recommended walking 30-45 minutes 3-4 times a week. I went for a walk outside last night but it was really cold so I'm going to use the treadmill at my gym today. I'm also interested in doing prenatal yoga and would also love to know of any good pregnancy video workouts out there.

  • I workout while watching tv.  I have light exercise balls that I lift for my arms.  I also will stand and do arm lifts or circles while watching tv.  Kegels are always easy and good to do.  I also try to do a lot of stretching while watching tv.

If you have a wii you can play wii fit!  :)  I like doing that too!  hehe

Oh I also go on walks, just bundle up if it gets cold.  (of course that's coming from someone from CA... hehe)
