Things seems to have changed quite a bit since my DS was a baby (he is only 2 and a half) but then we waited until he was 6 months, I am interested to find out what the new recommendation is when I take her for her immunications in a month.
We started at 4.5 months- closer to 5 months. We wanted to wait until 6 months, but DS was needing much more. We are still just doing cereal right now though, since I have a lot of food allergies in my family and DS has really bad eczema. I'm hoping not introducing other stuff will help.
My LO's pedi said they usually recommend it by 13 lbs. My LO is only 2 months and weighs 12 lbs.
Wow, really? My LO is 7weeks and just shy of 12lbs. I can't imagine giving him solids anytime soon! I don't think I'll start until 6 months or so, perhaps 5.
We started about 2 months because DS was eating so much and spitting up at ever feeding.
ETA: I think it's healthier to give a 2/3 month old rice cereal than 50+ oz of formula a day, which is easily where DS would be if we didn't give him cereal too. He was eating 4.5-5 oz every 2-3 hours when we started cereal.?
I wouldn't start a baby on cereal so early unless there was a reason, and eating too much or reflux is a valid reason IMO. ?

We started cereal at 4 months, but he couldn't really do it. We tried again a week ago and he is finally able to get it down without spitting a ton out.

and, imho, 2/3 months is too young to start solids.
