Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Mommy Epic Fail

Lately, our weather has been in the 80's.  Suddenly this week we drop to the 60's.  Do I have any fall clothes for DD?  Any jackets besides a little lightweight zip up sweatshirt?  Anything long-sleeved except for some 18-24 month stuff that is still way to big?  No -- Mommy completely dropped the ball.  Blurg.  Time to go shopping!  I hope BRU still has some good stuff left after their 30% off coupon has been good for a week -- we're headed there this weekend.

PS. My friend stocks up on clothes for her kids 2-3 sizes (or more) ahead of time, but this scares me -- I'm so afraid she'll have a growth spurt or slow down and the clothes won't be seasonally appropriate!  If you can time it right/the seasons work out, you can save a lot of money, but if you don't your'e screwed.  Am I the only one who feels like this?

Re: Mommy Epic Fail

  • I used to feel like this but I just learned that CP and Carters have no time limit with returning items with or without receipt so I just now always save my receipts

  • I don't buy until I know what size is going to fit her normally. I got burned too much when she was growing like a week between 2 and 9 months old.

Really???  Do you still get a full refund (with receipt) if the clothes are no longer in season/have gone on sale?

  • I know where you are coming from.  I just bought all of DS fall clothes about 10 days ago, and the weather changed this week. We just made it under the wire.

My cousin does this with the stocking up on clothes.  If her DD doesn't fit into them when the season comes, my cousin has a bunch of seasonally appropriate, brand new clothes that she sells as a package on ebay.  She actually makes money.

  • yes as long as you have the receipt.

I just returned some stuff from last winter and exchanged it

  • Yeah I'm having the same problem and I felt like I bought a decent amount of fall clothes in August.  Now when I have to figure out something to put on her everyday it doesn't seem like she has the right amount.  And I bought 24 months which is what she wore this summer and they were fine but now that there are long sleeves and full pants all the stuff is too big!! I have to roll up sleeves and pants.  She is a shorty apparently.  but 18 month crap is too small... argh!
  • I usually buy one season ahead. I don't ever buy retail for DS, so all of his clothes are either clearance or consignment.

  • I always shop sales too -- I think DD owns next to nothing bought at full price, unless it was a gift.  I just completely dropped the ball this time. I'm not sure how it happened -- between my new job, moving to a new apartment, DD starting at a new daycare, family visits, etc it just fell through the cracks.  Ah well -- I'll do better next time.
