Question for moms of 2 or more

I want to take DS ( 3 1/2 yrs old)  to story time at the library but DD is 7 mo. How is it received if I go with both of them? They make such a huge deal of separating the ages that I don't know...Or what if I want to take DD to the play group at the library? What to do with DS?

Re: Question for moms of 2 or more

  • I would take both kids. If they don't like it, too bad. I have two kids and I am not going to hire a sitter for story time.

  • I'd wear DD in a wrap or Ergo or something & go do story time that way, and skip the play group.

  • Our library is very strict with their age group story times.  Sometimes younger or older siblings can attend but other times not.  I'd call the library to be sure.  I used to have to get a babysitter (usually a neighbor would watch my youngest for an hour while I was with the oldest).

Yes  AND I would probably attempt to wear the baby like Kori said, just so I can have my hands free to help with the older one.

  • I'd just take both of them. If they have a problem...oh well!

Ditto this.  I took my older DD to storytime with younger DS frequently.  But, when he got more mobile and was resistant to being worn the whole time, I tried to go to one that was for both of them or skipped it.

  • Lots of parents take their babies along to things for the older sibling, so I can't imagine you'd be the only one or that it would be a problem.  K is in gymnastics (Parent & Me) and I put E in the Bjorn and have her with me the whole time.  No one has ever had a problem with it.
  • The baby should be fine. Our library's storytimes are a ring of parents/caregivers with the toddlers on laps, surrounded by an outer ring of babies in infant carriers.
