solid foods, when did you lo start?

I was wondering if anyone's pedi told  them to start LO on cereal and foods at 4 months or sooner?

If so what was the reasoning behind the "early" start?

We started at 4 months when pedi okay-ed it.

Our pedi started us at 4 months just because LO was physically ready.  I wouldn't consider it "early".   He didn't really start eating veggies until 5 months though.

At 4 months pedi said we could start yellow veggies based on DS seeming physically ready for it, but we have yet to start. His weight is fine, so are his sleep habits and disposition, so I'm holding off a bit longer. Although he's becoming very interested in watching mommy and daddy eat real food!

We started DS a week before 5 months old... He oogles us eating so we started a tad early..

Ds has been getting cereal in the bottle at 3 months so we went straight to solids.

we started at 4 months when pedi said it was okay.  i didn't wait like some do by choice.  If your lo isn't ready for solids they will let you know.  doesn't hurt to try.  i wouldn't start any earlier than 4 months
