Babies: 0 - 3 Months

First Night in the Crib!

I moved DD to her crib and I'm so nervous! Ack! Someone tell me it is going to be fine :)

She's been sleeping in her PnP bassinet (or in bed with me) since she was born, but she weighs just under 15lbs now and DH and I agreed it was time to move her.

She took a nap in there earlier and did awesome, put herself to sleep from drowsy but awake. She did the same tonight too. I'm not sure if she's out for the night, she's been sick and her schedule is a bit off. But it is great that she's gone down twice now by herself and it makes me feel better about putting her in there.

I just wish I could shake the nerves. Moms who've moved their LOs, it gets better right?

Re: First Night in the Crib!

  • She'll be fine! I let my 2 month old sleep in the crib.. on his belly. Surprise I still take him to bed with me when he wakes up in the middle of the night tho

  • Yes it does! We moved A about the same time and she did great! We started with naps only for a few days but then did night time too and had no issues.

  • Thanks guys :) This is that one thing that I'm overly nervous about.

She woke up right after I posted (I kinda figured she would) so I just made her a bottle and we'll see what happens from there.

I think I may let her sleep the rest of the night with me, especially with her being sick and not sleeping on her normal schedule. But two good naps in her crib today is great! Tomorrow we can try for more :)

We also need to put the sensor pad for her angelcare monitor under her mattress, one we get that in place I think I'll feel a LOT better.

  • It will get better :)

The first night I put DD in her crib was the night she actually slept the longest. I put her down at 8 and checked on her a million times and fell asleep myself somewhere around 10ish. I woke up in this horrible sick-feeling panic around 2am realizing I hadnt heard from her. I triped over the dog, my feet, the bed, almost took out the dresser and I dont think I took one breath on my way out that door. She was sleeping so peacefully yet I still picked her up like a crazy woman and hauled her into bed with me when she woke up and started screaming and slept horribly the rest of the night. But I was happy :)

Anyways....I learned my lesson.....She does great on her own and I have to give the kid some credit!

  • DD has been in her crib for 3 weeks now, and trust me it gets better.  She started STTN as soon as we moved her to the crib and that is so nice. DH and I like feeling that we have some time to ourselves without the risk of waking DD; some privacy.  Good Luck!
