Spill your guts girls...

Okay. I have hormonal issues when not pregnant (and I don't mean in the PMS way). I had polycystic ovaries, and every. single. symptom of PCOS, but I always tested negative FOR PCOS.

One of my biggest symptoms was facial hair. It's all over my chin. I hate it. HATE it. There's too much to bleach, so I end up just tweezing it... but I have to do this at least once a week.

I've noticed, that since I've gotten pregnant, it's gotten WORSE.

Which is weird.... before I was PG I also had this weird skin condition, where I would start itching, scratch it (say my belly) and within minutes it would spread until I had hives all over my belly. My allergist said it was a histamine condition, and prescribed a medicine. I stopped taking it when I got pregnant, and was prepared to just put up with it throughout pregnancy (showers and lots of Aveeno would make it bearable). I had it a little bit through the first trimester, and then it disappeared. We've decided it was hormonal as well.

I guess what my question is... do any of you girls have facial hair issues, and has it gotten worse since you got PG? I'm PRAYING mine gets better once I pop out this girl, otherwise I'm going to go insane.

I grew a ton of hair all over my belly, so I wouldn't be surprised if some people are affected to grow facial hair!

I did get my lip waxed for the first time ever yesterday, but I don't think it's related to pregnancy. The hair on my face is very very light blonde so I never really worried about it before. Then I went to an Asian waxing place where they insisted Stick out tongue

You might want to check again on the PCOS dx.  The criteria has been broadened.  I was dx with PCOS just based on irregular periods and polycystic ovaries.  My b/w is always normal

I have mild facial hair issues.  When it bugs me, I wax

I have PCOS as well, and my symptoms have actually gotten better during pregnancy. I actually feel "stable" hormonally for the first time ever. I do know that there's a med you can go on after pregnancy that helps with the hair growth if it doesn't stop.

I may discuss it with my MW after we deliver. I had several ultrasounds from 15+ that showed bi-lateral polycystic ovaries. I "popped" probably around 20-30 cysts from 15-21. I have trouble losing weight, I used to have very irregular periods, I have the facial hair... but my bloodwork was always negative as well.

I took glucophage for a while, and only had 1 cyst after that. I also try and control it through diet, and natural supplements. Those natural supplements are how we got pregnant without trying, lol.

I would definitely discuss it with you MW or even get a 2nd opinion.

my belly is a lot more hairy than before, its all blonde though, which is weird because i'm italian and have dark hair. i would recommend waxing though, to me it's a lot less painful then plucking a million little hairs....1 swipe and its all gone at once.

I saw another doctor in the practice pre-pregnancy, who is the one that said I didn't have PCOS. I just started seeing my MW at 20 weeks with this pregnancy. I LOVE her though, so I would probably trust whatever she said.

I have a 'happy trail' now, definitely not attractive on a woman! My DH discovered it the other day and "Oh no, we're not going to have this!" and he went and got his facial shaver and went at my belly. Embarrassed

All you can do is laugh about it...that's how I make it through a lot of the embarrassing parts of pregnancy.

For something like PCOS, and endocrinologist would be a better bet

Now that we've taken your post waaaaayyyy off topic

Perhaps it is thyroid issue? I have a friend who has this and has similar issues.

I have PCOS and knew I had it since I was in my early 20's.  However, my doc insisted that I didn't.  Years later, after about 8 months of TTC, I saw a reproductive specialist and he confirmed that I did have PCOS!!!  Which I felt relieved and annoyed at.  If I knew I had PCOS sooner, I might have gotten pregnant sooner.  But then I was glad that I am NOT just making things up.  So it might be worth your while to see a specialist after you deliver.  If you want to have another baby, it may pose problems.  And people with PCOS have a higher likelihood of developing diabetes.

As for the facial hair.  I've noticed that I have more hair, EVERYWHERE since being pregnant.  Fortunately, I actually had laser hair removal a few years back, so I don't have too much on my face.  Just a few strays.  But they definitely seem darker.  I use an eyebrow shaver to cut the few strays because I don't want to wax.  My hair grows fairly slow there, so I don't really need to do it more than once a week.  I also bought an epilator, and that works well on my belly as well as my legs.  It actually doesn't hurt, so I just do that once every few weeks.

I decided that I'm just going to forget trimming, waxing, whatever down there.  I can't see it and I'm sure my doc has seen it all!

I don't know that it's gotten worse, but when I started to get passed the college years I needed to start getting my upper lip waxed. Then I discovered Threading!

It's much better than tweezing and eventually lasts much longer than waxing. The hair grows back finer a slower and it's much healthier for your skin to do this.

If you have a threading place in your area I highly recommend it! When I first started I needed to go about every 10 days and now it's about every 3 weeks. Been doing it about a year now so I'm hoping that eventually it just stops growing back!
