VENT my mom sucks and cannot keep a secret

when i told my mom we were expecting #2 she said "ohh, did you mean to have them that close together?" (YES!) then didn't even ask about the due date or anything. I told her 2 or 3 different times though that we were not telling everyone until out of the 1st tri. Well now I am having bleeding and we are really feeling strong about that...

I talked to her today for the first time in 2 weeks and told her about the bleeding and ER trips that have been going on and again said, this is exactly why we still don't want to tell anyone until after 1st tri... her reply "I thought everyone knew"...um, why would you think everyone knew when I told you no one did and not to tell anyone?! then I ask who she told and she says "um, I don't remember who I told or if I told anyone"... WTH? we have a large family gathering this weekend and I do not need random people coming up to me saying stuff and then other people over-hearing etc.

This shouldn't surprise me, but it does. She kept the secret with DD and my brother and his gf are pg right now and she kept their secret until they were 17 weeks!! they took FOREVER to tell because it was very unplanned.

Oh and she is not telling people because she is "excited Grandma"...DD is 18 months and my mom barely knows her and lives 30mins away...she always flakes out on getting together and has been a pretty crappy Grandma.

I am a little nervous to tell any of our parents for similar reason.  She can't keep a secret at all.  She tells my grandmother and one of my aunts everything and, bless her, my grandmother forgets what she should and shouldn't say to other people.

I am really sorry to hear that she is not respecting your wishes.  That is quite rude of her.  I am also sorry to hear that she is not a very good grandmother to your DD.  Hope everything works out for you.
