Ok, I know this has probably been discussed, but I am taking Caleb to the pediatrician tomorrow and wanted to know if there are any general questions I should be asking (it's just a check-up/newborn visit). He did not get his hep b shot in the hosp., so I'm guessing he'll get that tomorrow, but I am also interested in spreading out the vaccines. Does anyone know of an alternative schedule for vaccines besides the suggested one? I'm sorry to sound so clueless, but that's exactly how I feel right now!

We had questions about feeding and weight - mostly b/c we had a rough start w/ BFing.
Ada got her HepB at 2 mos. I split her vax but I honestly don't remember how. Her first one was the combo vax w/ a bunch of things in it, including HepB. About 2 weeks later she got everything else - rotavirus is the oral one and then rthere were 2 injections on single organisms.
I'm totally clueless but have been doing my best to spread out M's shots. He had hep b at the hospital, then his 2nd hep b at his one month then a ton the other day(dtap, hib etc. - 4 in all).
I'd mostly ask about your pedi's philosophy about vaccinations and if he/she would be open to alternative vaccine schedules.
Besides that, I'd ask about milestones he's reached or that you should be looking for.

Yes, there's the Dr Sears vaccine book that suggets an alternative schedule, otherwise it'll be a pretty easy visit with weight and lenght measurements and advice on what to do next. GL!
Nicholas Jacob born on 06/30/2009, 9.5lbs and 21 1/4" long
Joshua Scott 5.3lbs & Jonathan Matthew 6.2lbs, born 08/31/10
Our pedi gave us a sheet showing what will be done at well child visits for the first year - listing which vaccinations will be given when, etc. They gave us a whole packet, actually, with info sheets on each of the vacs as well. Ask if your doc has something like that. I think they said we could spread the shots out if we wanted, but I honestly forget.

Try gooling "alternate vaccination schedule."
