Do you get a warning from gift givers prior to sending packages in the mail/person?

MH don't and its annoying.

This is the second (or third) time its happened....Last year DH's Aunt paid one week of our daycare (that ROCKS right!) except she never mentioned it to us until 4 months later when she called butt hurt about not getting a TY.  I pay daycare every Friday, never have a balance--we don't get print outs unless we asked or are behind.  I never knew we had a credit until the phone call....

We randomly got a large gift for DD 2 nights ago (which was suppose to be for her August birthday).  Again, no mention of expect this in the mail and when we got it (with no card or explanation) DH was like oh, that must be from XYZ , DH's mother said the same Aunt was upset we hadn't said anything....well hello we don't what to expect and apparently its way late...

I don't have this Aunt's number but would you say something or get DH too?  Or keep ignoring eventually she will get A clue...

Re: Do you get a warning from gift givers prior to sending packages in the mail/person?

  • SIL does things like this all the time.  When she sends gifts (usually Christmas), she never sends a card or emails us or anything to indicate who it's from.  Sometimes, it will have the packing slip and I can see the billing address.  Others, I have no idea.  Drives me nuts b/c then MIL calls throwing her usual fit and asking if we got SIL's gift.  I always say we didn't because I have no idea if what we got is from her or not.  Then she starts describing it and sure enough it came a month ago.  I've started assuming gifts without cards or notes or anything are from SIL but then my grandparents sent something for the girls that got damaged in the mail so they repackaged it or something and the card was lost.  Totally confusing!  I am passive aggressive, though.  I will refuse to write a thank you note if there's no card for a gift from SIL and will say "Oh, was such-n-such from her?  We had no idea who it was from since the package never said."  It drives me nuts.
  • If I send something via mail to someone, I make sure that they are able to tell it's from me, but I don't warn them ahead of time, no.
