  • My budget calls for $150 a week.  I am usually right around that number with meat and cleaning products.
  • Usually its around $450 for the 3 of us.  Those spending less how do you do it?

I meal plan and we shop at Walmart. However I will say that we generally go out to eat on Saturdays( sometiem both lunch and dinner) and we got out for breakfast on Sundays. Sunday's is generally leftover night from going out on Saturday. Plus I get coupons from a bunch of different websites as well.

  • I'm really hoping that I'm towards the high end because of 2 in diapers and formula costs, because we try SO hard to not overspend at the grocery store.

I also spend about $450/mo.  I meal plan around grocery store sales and buy store brands, but I don't do cupons.  People who do can save a tone of money.  Here is a great post from the SAH board on how to do this.

eh, we shop together, but I don't really keep track of the grocery bill

we do use coupons, buy in bulk at BJs, and shop sales. I just don't think I could confidently come up with a number.

  • No clue.  I'd say  about 100 a week as an actual grocery trip.  Then we go to Target to buy formula, diapers, and wipe probably a couple times a month.  Plus about once every couple months we drop $300 at Sams on bulk meats and stuff.  Then we do nightly tips about three times a week that run under $30 when we don't have a plan for dinner.  So, it all adds up somehow, but not sure to what.  I would say 500-600, but that wasn't an option.
  • I spent about $65/week for a family of 3.5.  :)  I don't buy cleaning supplies - we clean with vinegar and baking soda.  The only 'cleaning' stuff I purchase detergent - laundry and dishwasher.  I'm slacking, I need to learn to make my own laundry detergent.

We don't use paper towels - rags for cleaning, cloth napkins.

I just stopped CDing Calloway, just because I don't have the energy to do regular laundry, let alone extra loads of diapers right now.  I'll start back up after Ari's born.

I buy produce at the Farmer's Market, get it from neighbors or family.  I buy a LOT of it, too, and freeze for winter.  When I can take a bag over to the neighbors, leave a $5 in his bucket and fill it up with fresh veggies, it's worth it!  :)

I buy meat from the butcher, never at the actual grocery store.

    I buy eggs locally.

I do shop at Wal-Mart to fill in the rest.  I buy store brands.  I coupon, sometimes, and buy on sale.
