Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Just spent 90 minutes on the phone with CC company

So, I get a call today from a credit card company saying that b/c a delinquency on another card has been reported, they were slashing our credit limit from $14K to $500 (we owe $0 on this card btw). I've never missed a credit card payment, so I pulled our credit report, only to see that my mastercard has reported the delinquency.?

Mind you, I've had a zero balance on said card since January. So, after 4 people and an hour, I finally get through to the "collections manager". I explain to her that I am presently looking at my current online statement (I don't receive paper bills) and it's showing a zero balance. She explains that when I paid off the card in January, a charge of $105 had yet come through and it's been accruing finance charged for the last eight months. Hello!! Why has every statement for the last eight months shown a zero balance??

She apologized and said it was a "computer error" and they'd retract the finance charges. That's good, but I'm more concerned about my credit report. She said they'd report the resolution, but if this has a lasting effect, I'll trip. I've worked my butt off to make sure I have a perfect credit score. I've never even missed a payment before this fiasco. Is there anything else I should be doing about this?

  • Wow, that is ridiculous. Well good for you for taking the time to figure out what the heck was going on! I'm not sure if you need to do anything else, but I hope it's all sorted out!

  • Wow.  Good credit means so much these days.  I really hope it works out for you.
  • I do not have any words of wisdom...just hope it all gets straightened out for you.  :-(
  • Ugh, I am so sorry. I hate dealing with cc companies...we too work very hard to keep great credit. I had to deal with this crap after my dh's identity was stolen, and a computer was purchased. We received no bills until collections called my dh at work. Then we had to file a police report, cancel stuff, etc. It was also reported on his credit. I'd get the cc company to send a letter to you outlining the mistake and what is being done to remedy it. If they don't report it, then you have a copy and can submit it to equifax, etc, to try to get it fixed :)

  • How ridiculous.

I got a letter from my cc co saying they're raising my interest rate to 30% based on "lack of credit history." I have more (GOOD) credit history now than when they issued me the card last November. CC cos are really getting obnoxious.
