The Bloat

Hey Ladies!  It's been forever since I have been on here.  After 2 exhausting years of TTC and fertility treatments, DH and I finally got pregnant in March of this year.  I sadly miscarried 6 weeks later =(.  It was really hard to get back online and read up on things with everything I was going through.

Well, I am happy to announce I am preggers again, 5 weeks along this time and over all feeling great.  I feel different this pregnancy which I hope is a good thing. Smile I go for my first u/s appointment next week at my 6 week mark.

Have any of your girls experianced any heavy bloating/gas during your early weeks of pregnancy?  I have IBS anyway, so I know I might be more prone than others...but C'MON!  I seriously already look 4 months pregnant!  Has anyone ever taken anything over the counter for it?

Thanks for your help!

PS...Also, like I said it's been FOREVER...can someone refresh my memory on the code to add a signature in my profile.  =)

Re: The Bloat

  • Congrats on your sticky baby!  I hope that you have a H&H 9 months.  <3

When I first got the BFP, I was burping all the time.  I never burp unless I drink soda.  It kind of went away on it's own after two months but everything I tried did not work.  I was too afraid to take anything over the counter for it.  Talk to your OB before taking anything. ^.^

I am not up on all of the computer stuff, DH does that for me.

  • The bloat is normal along with the gas.  Bummer I know, but it's all worth it in the end.   My bloat gets bigger as the day progresses... argh!

  • I have been eating really, really well. No candy or sweets and no soda, didn't drink soda before being pregnant...but the bloat is insane! I feel you, it's crazy. I feel like I need to buy maternity pants now which is sooo not right.

  • My bloat never goes away, but the gas pains were really bad until i discovered the rolaids soft chews (pregnancy approved) also makes some for heartburn AND gas relief. I started taking those and they've REALLY helped.

  • I agree with PP.  My bloat has definitely eased up.  I don't look nearly as pregnant as I did a few weeks ago.

  • I am extremely bloated and it does get worse as the day goes by. I haven't been able to wear my jeans at all. I am wearing maxi dresses but I mean I don't have that mean so I have ran out of clothes to wear. Good thing I have a lot of flowy tops that are in style to hide my gut!

  • My OB suggested to drink plenty of water, before trying any meds. As much water as I can drink. Which is insane, because of all the bathroom trips I'm already taking....the added water is making me go even more. But it has helped.
  • Thanks Ladies!  I really appreciate all your feedback!  I am a "water only drinker" so I will keep up with that and try to watch what I feed my belly with =)  Hopefully this bloat will go down soon.  Seriously, last night before bed I weighed 6 lbs more than I did this morning when I got out of bed.  CRAZY!!!  Thanks again, looking foward to being a part of thebump...FINALLY!
  • I have a similar story as you (6 weeks today, my 2nd attempt) and the bloat is way worse this time. I have heard the water trick as well. All my clothes are so tight!

    Are Tums ok to take?
