Are you going to decorate LO's room like you did for your previous children? I've been thinking about it and I highly doubt it althought I really didn't do too much to DD's room. It's just purple with pictures on the wall.
And if you have a baby of the opposite sex that what you have...are you going to buy the matching crib sheets, bumpers, quilt? I'm definitly not doing that.
Re: If this is your 2nd, 3rd, 4th...ect.
If #2 is a girl, I'm going to completey remodel the current guest room just like I did for #1. Yes, I probably will buy a matching bumper and sheets, but prob not a comforter. We'll see.
If #2 is a boy, we'll be remodeling the current guest room for DS's "big boy" room and then putting baby boy #2 in Carter's nursery. I love that nursery to peices, so it would be great to have #2 (if it's a boy) in there as well!

We're not finding out if this one is a boy or a girl until delivery, so I'm not even worried about decorating until after the little one is here. He or she will be in our room with us for at least a couple of months, so DH will paint after he or she is here.
We are going to re-use Zachary's crib sheets and white breathable bumper. I probably won't buy an expensive bedding set - we never used Zachary's!
If another girl, we might reuse some of DD's crib bedding.
If a boy, we will do a new room theme for him. Although the "bedding set" is a waste of money in my opinion.

If #2 is a boy, he will share a room with DS.
We really want a girl, but if we have a boy, we'll save SO much money.
I plan on decorating DS's "big boy" room and then moving the new baby into our gender neutral nursery. I wanted something gender neutral for this very reason.
#1 and #2 each had thier own rooms decorated with all the bells and whistles. by the time #3 got here we were out of rooms. SO I decorated an area in the baby room for her- with her own bedding and a few decorations on her side of the room. NOW with baby #4 s/he will be in my room for a while so DH and I have decided to decorate an area in our room with a new bedding set as well.
Each of the kids have really nice quilts that were part of thier bedding collections. #3 did not get the full collection but still got the quilt- same will go for #4.
