So this morning one of my co-irkers messages me "You might want to walk the other way to the printer today. I'm not feeling so hot today. In fact, I feel like I have the flu."

Ok, while I realllllly appreciate you telling me to stay away from you.. I can hear you coughing over the cube wall. I know you have like 15 more PTO days because you just boasted that you have sooo much time to take off.. so stop hacking near my cubewall and go home!

arrgghhhh...just a random little vent.

GRRR! People like that make me so mad! My boss came to work friday BOASTING that his son had swine flu and that he thought he was getting it! Thankfully I was off, but I freaked out because he exposed 3/4 of the staff to it! It turns out that neither him nor his son were actually positive for H1N1, but I didn't find this out until after I had harassed my doctor to find out what I should do! I agree, if you're sick STAY HOME!!

If I felt like I could come to work, there's no way I'd waste my PTO for the sniffles. If employers really want to protect the workforce, they need better sick policies. Forcing employees to choose between sick time and vacation? Heinous.

I agree. As much as I feel bad for people who are concerned about catching my cold when I have one, I'm not wasting sick days on days I feel icky - I need them for days I feel HORRIBLE! I can't stay home because I sound bad, I have to actually feel bad.

sniffles no.. however... this guy said he felt like he had the flu and he's been sneezing and coughing all day and people are walking by his cube telling him that he looks like crap and to stay away.. he should be home.

Ha ha. I was yelling this to everyone a couple weeks ago. One girl was sent home because of the flu, but came in the next day! She finally was sent home again then was out for like a week. Fine with me!

Totally agree!!! I have been home for the last 3 days for exactly that reason...I have the worst cold ever! I am convinced that I got it at work from a few people I noticed were quite sick for a few days before I got sick. Uhhh...and they got over it much more quickly than I am getting over it...the suppressed immune system of a pregnant woman is NO FUN!

I wish it were that easy for me. I have had a cold for over a week now. I work in an environment where you basically cannot be sick. I was able to take a 1/2 day one day, but had to work the weekend with literally no voice. It truly sucks. Believe me, if I had my way, I would not have been there. Now, let me back track and say that I went to the doctor immediately to make sure that I did not have the flu. If that was the case, then they would just have to make do without me.

I 100 % agree. There are also the people who use all of their time at the beginning of the year and then when flu season comes around they have to come to work.
