Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Transitioning to toddler bed

We put DS's toddler bed together this weekend.  He will not stay in the pack n play at daycare anymore, so she has him in a toddler bed to nap.  So, DH and I thought for the sake of consistency, we should do the toddler bed at home too.  He did really well over the weekend, slept in it Friday and Sunday night w/o getting up at all. (Saturday night he slept in bed w/ mommy!).  Last night, he was up at midnight and then again at 4:30.  He is such a good sleeper normally, so I'm not used to getting up at night!  I totally understand that he will have some transition time, so it's not a big deal.  It did bring back memories of him not sleeping through night though!!!

Re: Transitioning to toddler bed

  • ya it was hell for us...son didnt want to take nap which usually he is great with...that has passed for the most part. I was at the point where I wanted to put the front of the crib back on (we have a convertible crib). DS wasn't climbing out or anything but with #2 coming in jan I wanted to get this stress out of the way. I am glad I did...good luck!

  • DD coslept and hated her crib even in daycare. Now that she's in the 1 to 2 toddler class, they have cots so i figured to try the toddler bed. We took crib apart and put up toddler rail. What a great transition! Dd loves in and has been sleeping through the night ever since!

  • Does he get up and stays in his room or he leave and come to yours? What about putting up a baby gate?  We are starting the transition this weekend. I plan on putting a gate up at his door so he can get up but can't leave the room. He sleeps on a cot at daycare with no issues transitioning from the pack n play. I am hopeful about our transition but have no real experience yet.
