Moving DD to a big bed. She'll be almost 2.5 when the new baby comes although we'd like to have her well adjusted to her new bed a few months in advance to eliminate the feeling that the new baby is taking all of her stuff.
Scarlett is in a toddler bed already. We co-slept and moved her out of our bed and into her own. She's still in our room, though.
We're waiting to see the temprament of this baby before we decide on our sleeping arrangments. If it is anything like its sister, we'll be co-sleeping again.
We're planning on moving Scarlett into her own room and I'd like to buy a convertible crib for the new baby, even if we don't use it until the toddler bed stage, and keep it in our room. I want the option of having a crib there to use.
I know that probably doesn't help you at all. Sorry!

I would love to just put DD into a big girl bed, but I doubt she'll be ready since she'll be just over 1 1/2 when this one is born. For now, I think we're just going to hold off on making any decision for a while.

Zachary will be close to 2 1/2 when this one is born, so we're going to try to get him into a toddler bed before the baby comes. We'll probably start the transition around his second birthday.
We're hoping to move Hadley to a twin bed before or around the time that the baby comes but we'll be flexible and see how she's doing as the time gets closer.
With my second we borrowed another crib for the first 9 months...they were just shy of 2 years apart. This time around (baby #3) we actually are getting a new crib because our original one broke...it was from Pottery Barn Kids too. Oh well, I figure we got 4 1/2 years of use from it.
DD's crib is a convertible so she'll keep that one no matter whether it's in the crib form or a bed form. We'll most likely get another convertible for #2.
We'll move him to a big boy bed (or try) and then probably co-sleep with kiddo #2 for awhile in our room. We'll see if we need to buy another crib or not down the line.
we are going to move DD at 2 to a big girl bed . that will give us 4 months until the next baby comes to get her comfortable. . I think she will be fine . i had her sleeping in a big bed when we were on vacation a couple of months ago and just lined the bed with pillows and she did fine. . so, i'm not worried about moving her. i actually brought her bed shopping just to see what is out there and stuff. She loved it . she was laughing and rolling on the bed. . so much fun to watch.
i am pregnant with my second, luckily my son is already in a toddler bed, so i am planning on reusing his crib, but remember, if you have a bassinet, you can use that first for a few months, which will give your lil one more time if he/she still needs it!
My DD is 2.5, and is nowehere near ready for a "big girl" bed, I say don't rush your kids b/c you need the crib. I'll be buying another crib anyways b/c DD's crib is a convertible crib and will one day be her bed!
Thanks everyone! I certainly don't want to rush DS when he's not ready. My sister has an extra crib that was my nephews, so I may just borrow that for the new baby. Especially since DS has a convertibe crib and I can just make that his big boy bed when we're all ready
Christopher will be 20 months when the new baby comes. We will get a toddler bed and try to switch him but if it doesn't work we still will have a few months. We plan on keeping the new baby in our room until at least 3 months. Probably closer to six months though. They will be sharing a room eventually.
DD has a convertible bed so when she is ready we will convert it to the toddler bed.
But yes we will be purchasing another convertible crib. So that both kids' beds "grow with them" so to speak so that we don't have to keep buying beds for a few years.
