New to this board

Hello all of you!

 

I just wanted to take the time to introduce myself, my name is Deirdre, and I am expecting my first. We are very excited. We had been trying since we got married in April, and then decided we should stop (because we are moving back to California from South Africa in June '10) and then the month I go back on birth control I get pregnant! Can you believe it!!!! :-)

 

I only go to my first appointment on 19 October, and I can hardly wait. I would really like to hear about other people's experiences going to the doctors, so I can compare how things are done here in S.A.

I had a confirmation ultrasound at 7.5weeks.  At the second visit they did family history, had me pee in a cup, and gave my lab papers.  I had a very healthy pregnancy and didn't need to do anything else in those first few weeks.

Congrats!  I have my confirmation appt. today and I am assuming I am around 6-7 weeks pregnant. The same thing was true with DD #1.  They confirm the pregnancy with a test at the dr. office and my dr. does an ultrasound, yay!

 

Have fun, there is nothing like the 1st pregnancy!

hi Deidre,

congrats and welcome to the boards.  my doctor doesn't do the confirmation appointments.  We do everything at the 1st appointment:

pee in a cup, weight, blood pressure. pap smear, history, blood test, and u/s to date the pg and see the hb.

 I have my appointment at the end of Oct. and I can't WAIT to hear/see the heartbeat!
