Is anyone else? I work in a small office of 4 people. 2 male stock brokers, 1 office manager lady and myself. It's an amazing job and everyone is so laid back. My boss is the nicest lady ever and she is actually the reason I took the job. I can't help but think she already knows and she is giving me opportunites to tell her.
We have a fridge here and eat at our desks most days - get paid that way
- and I have been bringing food but going out a lot of days. She made a comment on it and I told her that "I just keep changing my mind". One day I wanted Panera really bad even though it's across town and it took forever... but she let me go. I normally bring coffee in 2-3 mornings a week and I havent done it for a month now (since BFP). I had a Dr appt the other day and came back with a bandaid from blood being drawn and I didnt give her any info on the appt like I normally would. Most of my Drs are in the town I moved from so me having a Dr here is kinda out of the ordinary and I had to tell her it was the only time they could get me in (instead of going after work). Today she asked if we went to the bars this weekend (totally giving me an opportunity) and I just answered her with a negative. Then also today she left for an hour to run errands and when she came back she said "I bet you need to go down the hall" and I actually didn't. I just get the feeling she knows and I have been so bloated lately that she can probably tell. Why am I nervous to tell her? She is a great, understanding lady. Why am I being such a wimp??
The girl before me quit because she was basically using her salary to pay for childcare, maybe that's why I am afraid? I actually did the math last night and even if we pay a sitter $1.50 less than I make per hr (no tax), then add on half an hour every day, I would end up paying her $1.00 more every 2 weeks than I am actually making. That is a story for a different post and it has me stressed out as well. How did you tell your bosses? Anyone else in similar situations?
Re: Nervous to tell boss? (long-ish)
I'm a Paralegal, and my bosses are the least undersatnding people in the entire word. Nothing matters to them except billable hours, etc. I had to leave an hour early a few weeks ago to pick my daughter up from school due to a childcare mix up, not really THAT big of a deal, but to them the world was ending, so when I had to make the appointment after my BFP, i basically had to tell them what was up so they would back off.
Unfortunately in my case, they have been less than understanding, but I'm doing my best to not let it get to me.
the last lady that worked here that got PG they practically forced her out the door...so i am nervous to tell them too....especially with this ecomomy they can use "laying me off" as an excuse.

It really sounds like your boss is understanding.
When I had my DS, I quit my job because they wouldn't let me make doctor's appointments. With this one, I just the HR woman today but she is also somewhat a friend of mine. I do qualify for FMLA and we had so many layoffs, etc lately, I wanted to somewhat protect myself against any layoffs. I also told her that I only wanted those who needed to know about it until I was done with my first trimester. She was very excited. That is all I can do.
I would tell her. Delaying it isn't really going to change the outcome. They are either going to be understanding or not. If not, I would want to know so I could find a place to work that does.
