I moved up to 5 oz when he was 2 mos. I noticed he was getting hungry 2 hrs after he ate, (he would normally eat every 3.5-4 hrs) so I asked the pedi and he said to move him up an ounce, and not to have him "snack" in between feedings. The 5 oz is what he needs now and he's doing great.
I always wonder this too. But Jule usually looks for more sometimes and when I give her more she spits it up. Not in pain. just lets whatever she doesnt want out. I knew she needed more 1/2 ounce when she wouldnt stop screaming after. and the only thing that made her better was the bottle.. HTH
I usually do a full oz just cuz it's easier to measure... my pedi recommended to try moving up when she is consistently finishing her bottles, but I usually try to move up when I see she's not completely satisfied (keeps sucking after bottle is empty, fusses when I take it away, etc...) or after a growth spurt. She's at 6 oz now and sometimes I'll give her 7 and she doesn't always finish it or she spits up so I usually just do 6.
Basically if i fed her and she was clearly hungry a half hour later, I fed her 1/2 oz more. Then in the next feeding (like 3 hrs later) I upped it by 1/2oz total.
just make an extra oz... or two, since it's easier to measure scoops that way (if using dry)... if baby doesn't eat it- throw it out.
I move up when baby sucks a bottle totally dry and seems like they would have kept going if there was more. Sometimes they'll take more, sometimes not. Sometimes they just want to suck- and a paci will do the job.

I swear DD is still hungry 2-3 hours later since going from 3-4 oz. I thought she'd at least go a little longer. But I don't think she's ready for five yet.

Ditto to this. LO is getting breast milk (about 1 oz) and then 4 oz formula. Usually he's OK with that amount but sometimes he wants more. He always finishes the bottles and spits up very little. I've tried giving him 6 but then that's too much. So I give him 4 every 2-3 hours and sometimes 5 when he's gone 4-5 hours between feedings (overnight).

I moved up in 1/2 oz increments.
