Product Rave- portable DVD player

My mom found this at Penney's outlet a couple of weeks ago for $89:

Our old car dvd player gave out- it was a cheapo anyway, so I was happy I got 6 mos out of it.  This one is so cool- it plays DVD's or you can plug in your video ipod or SD card and it will play movies from that!  The picture and sound quality is really pretty good too.  The only problem is that it is not really intended to be attached to the back of the headrest- so you need a place to sit it in the car.  We have a little tray table in our CRV so that works for now, but I'm trying to figure out a way to strap it to the headrest so that it is more stable.

Re: Product Rave- portable DVD player

  • Do you know if its still at Penny's?  Because this links to a $249 one at Amazon...

Would LOVE to get that for the little princess if we start commuting next week.

  • You can get a bag from Target that hangs between the front seats and you can put the dvd player in it, so it has a place to go. We just got one and haven't tried it yet but it looks like it will work okay!

  • Loading the player...
  • We have one of the little hanging bags to go between the seats ....don't waste your money.  They don't work.

DH's Mom got the wrong DVD player for Ridge for Christmas.  It works better if you wedge it between the seats.  But still a PITA.

  • I'm not sure if they have any left or if it is still that price- it was an advertised special so she got there early one morning to get it.  The price tag on the box says $129.99 which is still better than the Amazon price.

I don't know if we would like the bag thing hanging between the seats.  But I think I can use the strap from the old dvd player and some heavy duty velcro and make it work.

  • We have this dvd player and love it!  The pic is great quality.  We actually use a very small 'bungee cord' and put it on the headrest.  It's worked great and stays put just fine.  We just took it on the airplane this past week and it worked nicely on the tray table on the plane.
