I went into pre-term labor last night! I woke up at 430am with the WORST stomach pains EVER. i was having normal abdominal cramping [felt like i had to have diareahhea] and then the menstrual - like cramps started. Then everything tightened. I couldn't talk or move through the pains. I went upstairs and proceeded to have diareahhea for over an hour, then started shaking uncontrollably. I decided to get some water and try to get some rest to see if the pains subsided. I figured they were just intense braxton hicks. Well, i woke up a couple hours later and i was still having the worst cramping and continued having diareahhea. I called my OB and they told me to go straight to delivery, and not to walk or drive. They said my cervix is shorter than average and they were afraid my water would break if i put pressure on it.
Anywhom, after 4 hours in L&D, the contractions stopped without medicine. They did swabs & tests and they had asked me about my health history. I have a history of severe IBS. They diagnosed me with pre-term labor but said i wasn't effaced or dialating. They said the pre-term labor was caused by my IBS, and now i'm at risk for pre-term labor the rest of my pregnancy.
So basically, i have to be careful not to eat anything that will make my IBS go nuts, because the more my IBS acts up, the more contractions i have. GIRLS WITH IBS, BE AWARE OF YOUR STOMACH ISSUES! I HAD NO IDEA I WAS IN LABOR!
Thank god, Nathan isn't done cooking and is still safe & sound healthy in there
